About Meridian Counseling

Meridian Counseling was created from the belief that healing is not always about becoming someone new. Sometimes, it is about finding your way back to yourself.

Life can pull us in many directions. Stress, relationships, family expectations, grief, trauma, major transitions, and the pressure to keep moving can make it difficult to recognize what we need, or even hear ourselves clearly. Meridian is intended to be a space where you can slow down, make sense of what you are carrying, and reconnect with yourself without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out.

The name Meridian reflects direction, connection, and the idea of finding your bearings. Therapy here is not about being told who you should be or following someone else’s definition of healing. It is a collaborative process of understanding your experiences, recognizing patterns, exploring what matters to you, and deciding how you want to move forward.

At Meridian Counseling, there is room for the complicated parts, the uncertainty, the questions, the transitions, the grief, and the parts of yourself you may still be learning to understand. You do not need to arrive with the right words or a perfectly defined goal. We can begin with where you are.

Because sometimes finding your way forward begins with coming back to yourself.

I’m Kelita Lugg, LCSW, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing therapy to teens and adults throughout Connecticut.

My clinical background includes outpatient and hospital-based behavioral health, substance use treatment, residential care, work with adolescents, people navigating the justice system, and individuals facing complex healthcare and resource needs. These experiences have shaped the way I understand mental health as something influenced by relationships, family, culture, identity, work, parenting, health, and everyday life.

My style is warm, collaborative, curious, and practical. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can exhale a little. You don’t have to perform, have the perfect words, or know exactly what you need before you arrive.

Therapy with me is more than simply talking. I’ll listen, but I’ll also ask thoughtful questions, help you notice patterns, and work with you to understand what may be happening beneath the surface. I don’t believe therapy is one-size-fits-all, so I pay attention to what resonates with you, what doesn’t, and your feedback about what is and isn’t working.

I draw from evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and strengths-based therapy. I also recognize that race, culture, sexuality, gender, family background, and lived experience can shape how we understand ourselves and how comfortable it feels to ask for help.

My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming and grounded in care that is human, relatable, evidence-based, and useful.
